Sessions will last for 50 minutes. Sessions start at the scheduled time and finish 50 minutes later. Because of other appointments no adjustments will be made for tardiness

Crisis care is not provided, so he is unable to work with those who self injure or have displayed violence in the past. This also includes axis II diagnosis and active substance use.

Confidentiality will be maintained to ensure a safe environment for the client to divulge personal and sensitive information. Clients should know that this may not be possible if court ordered or mandated by law (i.e. child/elderly abuse/neglect or harm to self or others, even national security).  Also, some material will be passed on (as needed) to insurance companies for payment; professional consultants, and anyone you have signed a release of information for.

Notice of Privacy Practices is available for your review as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accounting Act (HIPAA). You will need to sign a copy acknowledging that you have reviewed it..

E-mail may not be used to transmit clinical information.

My voicemail is private, so you should feel free to leave any information you need there.

Communication in therapy is most effective if done collaboratively. Clients are encouraged to be honest with symptoms and issues. If new issues come up between sessions, be sure to let me know at beginning of the session so we will have plenty of time to process this.

Ongoing feedback is crucial for effective treatment. If an intervention is not working for you, let me know so we can pursue another plan. I attempt to treat everyone with dignity. If you ever feel you are not being treated properly, please bring this to my attention.

Phone calls are discouraged. Calls lasting longer than five minutes will be charged at $35/per 15 minutes. All crisis calls will be referred to 911.

Copies of documents/records are available for $1/page. Non-routine reports (i.e. disability application) are available for a fee. Charges will depend on complexity and time involved, with $35 being the minimum.

Terminations will be mutually agreed upon. If you feel we are not a good “fit” I ask that you schedule one last session for feedback and referrals.

Professional referrals are sometimes made if you have issues beyond the scope of my training and expertise. Referrals are also made for extra support–especially when terminating.  Personal referrals by you to me are always welcome.
